The Single Story by Lindsay Mickles (Bulgaria ETA)
December just started, and that means 2018 is coming to a close. As we draw nearer to the end of the year, we often reflect on what we have accomplished (or not…) throughout the year. Earlier this year, the Fulbridge blog featured a series of pieces written by Fulbright ETAs placed around the world based on the theme of “The Single Story”.
Fulbridge blog editor and Bulgaria ETA Lindsay Mickles also designed a lesson for her students based on this theme, in which students watch a TED Talk on the subject by author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie before discussing stereotypes they may have about other groups of people, or that others may have of their own communities.
