Lesson Resource of the Month: Student-Appropriate Music Videos

Student-Appropriate Music Videos by Cara Mooney (South Korea ETA)

Have you ever wanted to play a music video in class, only to find out to your chagrin (and perhaps too late…) that it perhaps a bit more racy than you had initially believed? Music videos can be a wonderful resource for engaging students or rewarding them for doing well during those last few minutes of class, but finding videos that have appropriate language and content can be a difficult task. Fortunately, former South Korea ETA Cara Mooney has been gracious enough to share her YouTube playlist of student-appropriate music videos with us. This playlist is by no means comprehensive, and some videos may need additional pre-screening to ensure that the content is appropriate given your placement’s cultural context, but it is a great starting point from which to work.

You can find Cara’s playlist here.

Be sure to keep checking in on our lesson catalog blog for the rest of October for more lesson-planning inspiration! Halloween is approaching, and we’ve got some great spooky material lined up… (Cue distant creepy witch laughter…)
