Lesson of the Week: Writing a Job Application

Writing a Job Application contributed by an Indonesia ETA

Do you ever feel the need to prove to your students that your class does actually have a purpose to it, that they are actually learning skills that will be useful in the future? Amidst the grind of grammar lessons and the sometimes-frivolous fun of games, it is sometimes important to incorporate a lesson that has students produce something tangible, with an easily-perceived practical value.

This Lesson of the Week: “Writing a Job Application”, contributed by an Indonesia ETA does just that. Following a discussion about dream jobs and a vocabulary introduction, students fill out job applications. This is excellent practice not only for future employment that may involve using English, but also for university or potential study abroad opportunities.
