Meet the ETAs:

Chloe Sferra is an ETA at Dobong Elementary School in Gumi, South Korea. She is in her second-year of teaching at Dobong with the Fulbright program. Chloe graduated from Denison University in 2020 with a B.A. in English and communication majors. During her Fulbright grant years Chloe has been the Editor-in-Chief of Fulbright Korea’s Infusion Magazine, worked with the Hana Foundation to tutor North Korean Defector Students, and spends time with her host family. After the end of her grant year, Chloe will enroll in a program to earn her M.F.A.

Alexandra Fosbury is an English Teaching Assistant at Lenguas Vivas in Salta, Argentina for the 2022 academic year. Besides her passion for helping and working with others as a former English and GED tutor, Alexandra also enjoys reading and writing–previously serving as the Editor-in-Chief of her college newspaper. Alexandra is originally from Walnut Creek, California but has spent that last four and a half years living and studying in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Prior to beginning her Fulbright, Alexandra graduated from Dickinson College in May of 2021 with degrees in philosophy (in which she completed and defended an honors thesis on the ethics of Solitary Confinement in the United States), political science (with particular emphasis on comparative politics in Latin America), and Spanish. In addition to teaching at Lenguas Vivas, Alexandra has been volunteering with a women’s rights NGO located in Buenos Aires translating various pamphlets and online literature to make it accessible for everyone. Upon completing her assistantship, Alexandra plans to attend law school in the United States with the hopes to become a civil rights lawyer, combining her passions for helping others along with her academic interest in ethics and international politics.

Tera is originally from Detroit, Michigan. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University and her Master’s degree in social work from Wayne State University. Before coming to Brazil for the Fulbright program, Tera was working as a Special Education Social Worker with Detroit Public Schools, providing supplemental learning for elementary school students with special needs. Tera is certified in TEFL and TESOL. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese as second languages. Tera enjoys playing roller derby and dancing Zouk. She also loves teaching and is super excited to share her AMAZING students’ work with all of you!

Jadyn Marshall is a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Greece in a junior high school in Athens. She graduated from the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College in June 2020 as a valedictorian. She holds a B.A. in English and a certificate in publishing. As an undergraduate, she interned at Penguin Random House, Jill Grinberg Literary Management, and Story Pirates, where she helped manage the influx of 15,000 stories submitted by children annually. Jadyn received her Girl Scout Gold Award in 2015 for designing and running creative writing workshops for middle school students, and has tutored both national and international students on everything from public speaking to Shakespeare’s comedies since. She is also a freelance writer and a co-founder of the Wingdings and Dingbats writing group. Jadyn will return to Athens for a second Fulbright year next fall, where she is excited to continue collaborating with her talented colleagues and witnessing students excel inside and outside of the classroom.

Evanna Ojeda is a 2020-21 and 2021-22 Fulbright Scholar working in La Rioja, Spain as an English Teaching Assistant and Fulbright Mentor, supporting students and grantees in the community. With an undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations and a graduate degree in Teaching, Evanna began teaching students in a low-income community setting in New York City through Teach for America. After two years in the classroom, she decided to pair her passions for politics and diplomacy with her love of education, joining the Fulbright Spain network. While in Spain, she works with high school and vocational school students, supporting learners of all ages with various English language needs. She aims to foster a love of learning both in and out of the classroom through creative writing activities, conversational games and events that take students beyond the boundaries of the classroom.

Lyla Boyajan: I studied Spanish Literature at Reed College before going on to work for the 2020 Census and in legal COVID relief. I have spent this year teaching at the Armenian State University of Economics and at the Russian-Armenian University. I also moderate the Teen Club at the American Corner. As a teacher,  my greatest joy comes when helping students express themselves in English. Next year, I will be returning to my home state of New Hampshire to study law. 

Madeleine works at the intersection of education, refugee resettlement, and creative communication. She received a BA in International Relations from Tufts University and is a certified Wilderness EMT. She currently lives in Germany where she splits her time between the UNESCO School of Essen and the German Red Cross, focusing on direct service. In the evenings, you can find her writing, dancing, and taking photographs. She plans to continue to use storytelling as a means to facilitate cross cultural understanding, personal growth, and empathy.

Anaflor Bernal is a current Fulbright grantee living in Pato Branco, Brazil. She is from El Paso, Texas (not originally but where she decided home is). Anaflor graduated from University of Texas at El Paso with a BA in Literature and a minor in Latin American and Border studies in 2021. From a bilingual and bicultural family, Anaflor grew up splitting her time between the US and Mexico. Having an interest in languages, Anaflor has enjoyed learning Portuguese and plans to study Brazilian literature during her Fulbright grant. Lastly, Anaflor decided to participate in the Fulbridge Journal because she wants to focus on using creativity and self-expression as way to motivate students in their journey to become confident English Speakers.

Tyler Bunton: A graduate of Pomona College with a major in English Literature, I am a long-time lover of creative writing and was an editor of the Claremont College Consortium’s literary journal: Agave Review. I have worked in Italy, Bolivia, and now in Santos, Brazil on English-language publications targeted towards ESL learners and international audiences. After my Fulbright Grant, I hope to start a career in International Publishing. 

Hanna Rivera is an English Teaching Assistant at IES Margarita Salas In Majadahonda, just outside of Madrid. She interned for the United States Trade Representative and graduated from UC Davis.

Jordan Goff is a Fulbright ETA in South Korea teaching at Kyungpook National University Elementary School in Daegu. Jordan holds a Bachelors in Global Studies with a minor in History from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. She has a passion for international education and children’s literature. Prior to Fulbright, she worked at a holistic preschool in Houston, Texas, where she assisted in curating the library catalog. In her personal time, Jordan enjoys exploring local cafes and listening to Dateline.


Meet the Staff:

Project Manager

Pêl Doski, CSM is a Fulbright South Korea 2018-2019 ETA alum. She works as a project manager for a tech startup and is an independent poet in the Nashville area.

Editors

Jaime Ernst: A former Fulbright España (2019-2020) ETA, Jaime currently works as an assistant director for a university writing center. Based out of York, Pennsylvania, she’ll begin pursuing her PhD in Composition and Applied Linguistics remotely this summer.

Meghan Jusczak: Meghan is a Fulbright Romania (2019-2020) ETA alum who currently works as an associate publicist at an indie book publisher. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Designer

Rob Ellis: Rob is the Manager of the Fulbrighter global network platform. He is a recovering academic, who now focuses on how to build communities in digital spaces.
