Trauma, Primitivism and the First World War<\/strong><\/a> – Joy Porter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joy Porter explores how the First World War affected the Canadian Poet, Frank \u201cToronto\u201d Prewett and how war-induced trauma caused him to pretend to be an indigenous North American. Porter investigates the history of trauma, literary expression, and the power of self-representation after WWI along with the influence of, and acceptance by, some of the most significant literary figures of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Author<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joy Porter was a 2015-2016 Fulbright All Disciplines Scholar Award <\/em>with the Department of Native Studies at Dartmouth<\/em>, US. <\/em>She was born in the North of Ireland and writes about Indigenous histories, literatures and cultures and their relationship to modernity and the environment. Currently, she is a Leverhulme Major Research Fellow (2019-2022) and Professor of Indigenous and Environmental History within the History Department at Hull University, UK. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

America, Russia and the Birth of Modern Greece<\/a> <\/strong>– Dimitris Michalopoulos<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1806 an anonymous Greek book called for a republican government, patterned upon that of the young United States, to be established in Greece. In this revelatory new book, Dimitris Michalopoulos follows Capo d’Istria\u2019s career along with Alexander Hypsilantis, a Greek who became a general of the Russian army and tried to attract Russia\u2019s interest in a democratic revolution for Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Author<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dimitris Michalopoulos was a 1984-1985 U.S. Visiting Fulbright Scholar. He is a member French Academy of Marine Arts and Sciences. Previously, he served as director of the Museum of the City of Athens where he organized the first exhibition of a large Russian museum in a Western European country. He has taught as a lecturer and assistant professor at the Law School of the University of Thessaloniki, Naval School of War, School of Naval Trials.  <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

History of the Aguij\u00f3n Theatre<\/a> – Elio Leturia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this bilingual book, Elio Leturia combines illustrations and the testimonies of playwrights and theater scholars from across the world to explore the history of Aguij\u00f3n Theater, the oldest Latino theater company in Chicago. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

About the Author<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elio Leturia was a 1990-91 Visiting Fulbright Scholar and is a specialist in visual journalism, with over 30 years of experience working at several national newspapers and magazines in the United States and abroad. As a bilingual writer his articles have appeared in the Detroit Free Press, The Miami Herald, El Comercio, El Peruano, Visualmente.com and The Huffington Post, among others. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional works include his documentary \u201cTita Turns 100<\/a>, \u201d which premiered at the Chicago Feminist Film Festival in 2016, winning the Lisagor Award in the Best Short Film Documentary category in 2017. Leturia is also an actor and an ensemble member of Aguij\u00f3n Theater of Chicago<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hurry to the Capsule<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>– To Be Prince on Maui<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Hurry to the Capsule<\/em> is an Atelier gathering the works of independent and underground authors, known as the Werths Collective. Hurry to the Capsule<\/em> publishes books and also serves as an active workshop that focuses on bringing works to a wider audience. They consolidate literary work separately and according to available means, growing their reach while ensuring anonymity. The authors operate under pen names – To Be Prince on Maui is a work written by one of these anonymous authors, who is a Fulbright Scholar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TV and Radio Broadcasting<\/a> – Nadia Abreu Bengo<\/strong> <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\n

Nadia Abreu Bengo analysed how TV and Radio broadcasting classes influenced primary school teachers continuing professional development. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Angolan Ministry of Education offered its primary school teachers an opportunity to attend a distance professional development activity; the study concluded that TV and radio broadcasting classes’ practical aspects improved their procedures, such as content organization and contextualization significantly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Author <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nadia Abreu Bengo was a 2015-2016 Fulbright Foreign Student at the College of Saint Rose in U.S. She is currently working in the Department of Continuous and Distance Education, National Institute of Education Staff, in the Angolan Ministry of Education. Previously, she worked as a teacher of Theory of Education and Curriculum Development at the School of Arts, Luanda, Angola and was a teacher of Didactics, Pedagogy and Teaching Methodologies at Escola Superior Pedag\u00f3gica do Bengo.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
