Google Images is chock-full of bizarre stock photos, ranging from the oh-so-classic \u201cWoman laughing alone with salad\u201d to \u201cMan talking on a shoe phone\u201d and beyond. If you\u2019re a fellow citizen of the internet age who also finds this plethora of oddities fascinating, this Lesson of the Week, \u201cWeird Stock Photos\u201d by South Korea ETA Robyn Kincaide may be just the thing for you.\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Following a brief introduction to the concept of stock photos, students complete an activity in which they write captions for a selection of strange images found in the annals of the worldwide web. This lesson also opens room for discussion on the lack of diversity and reinforcement of stereotypes which are unfortunately common in stock photos, and invites students to create their own photos based on a randomly chosen combination of nouns, verbs, and adverbs.
