One of the most difficult grammatical concepts to explain is when to use gerunds and infinitives. They are so similar in function and meaning that it is nearly impossible for native English speakers to express why we use one as opposed to another—typically one just feels better and more natural on the tongue.

If you’re looking for some way to clearly delineate the difference between gerunds and infinitives, our newest Lesson of the Week: “Gerunds vs. Infinitives with Maroon 5”, contributed by an Indonesia ETA may be just the thing for you. This grammar-heavy lesson manages to keep students engaged by incorporating activities with popular songs by one of the most internationally-recognized American bands for many years: Maroon 5.
